As a member of the store management team, the Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Manager to improve the commercial performance of the store by increasing its turnover and profitability, by providing strong leadership; consistently ensuring excellent customer experience; implementing best practice retail methods and expenditure control. The ASM will step in for the Store Manager in their absence.
The role will work closely with the Store Manager, Area Manager, relevant Head Office departments and the rest of the store management team to support and enable the store to meet and exceed KPI’s. The Assistant Store Manager should be pro-active in identifying commercial opportunities and any potential improvements, and planning and implementing interventions accordingly.

• Support, develop and motivate the team to meet company and store goals
• Driving sales and performance at all times, through strong communication and role modelling great behaviours
• Monitoring and communicating KPI’s including daily sales targets, and identifying and driving sales opportunities
• Identifying opportunities for increasing corporate sales and ownership of any corporate events in store
• Making commercial decisions on VM, and working closely with HO VM team and in-store team to implement directives, ensuring the brand identity and CT handwriting is clear
• Data analysis and reporting including trading and conversion
• Management of all compliance procedures
• Controlling stock loss in line with company expectations
• Reporting of store maintenance issues
• H&S processes and training
• Managing payroll processes

• Support the creation and embedding of a culture that recognises the importance of outstanding customer service to CT’s success
• Promote and monitor quality of service through training and by acting as a role model
• Monitor feefo daily and feedback to team on positive and negative comments, ensuring action plans are in place where needed
• Ensure that service standards are maintained at the highest levels and that any customer complaints, questions or queries are dealt with promptly
• Ensure that the store and team represent the ideals of Charles Tyrwhitt at all times
• Manage any escalated customer complaints successfully
• Ensure product knowledge is maintained and used to deliver excellent customer service at all times

• Identify and maximise sales opportunities (e.g. promotions, outfit building, up & cross selling) so that sales and margins targets are achieved and exceeded
• Support store team with achieving targets and increasing sales, embed training to enable this to happen
• Improve store profitability through identifying corporate opportunities and meeting targets
• Build and maintain an effective customer mailing list by ensuring teams capture customer data, and provide support and coaching for team members who need it
• Work in conjunction with the Visual Merchandiser and marketing to develop an advertising or promotional plan that will maximise sales
• Ensure payroll costs are monitored weekly and hours used to maximise sales
• Monitor on a daily basis, footfall and conversion results, to initiate scheduling changes to drive sales
• Support SM with recruitment and development of a strong, commercially focused team
• Coach and develop the team’s potential through a performance management culture, provide timely and constructive feedback on performance
• Identify training needs and plan and implement training schedules with SM
• Conduct performance reviews with immediate reports, and set and monitor clear goals
• Identify talent in the team and build a succession plan
• Ensure the store environment embraces our values
• Champion colleague engagement and identify suitable initiatives to drive improvements in engagement survey results and employee turnover

• Manage costs within the store; payroll, stock loss, wastage
• Deliver the highest merchandising standards
• Ensure that administration procedures and practices are applied and adhered to (including EPOS and till procedures)

• Proven ability to lead, inspire and motivate others to achieve and work to very high standards and to deliver world-class customer service
• Strong relationship building skills and stakeholder management
• Coaching and leadership skills

• Previous retail management experience preferred
• Experience of managing budgets and controlling expenditure
• Management of a large retail team
• Highly commercial, with strong analytical skills
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills sufficient to influence, persuade and negotiate at all levels both within and outside the organisation
